As we come ever closer to the release of (Sandy) Alex G’s album, House Of Sugar, we have yet another spectacular lofi production in the form of ‘Southern Sky’. The Philadelphia singer-songwriter takes a retrospective glance back to simpler times of a romantic relationship. The swaying rhythms of the grassroots blues saunter keeps the song light to reflect that blissful feeling of being in love, an emotion furthered by (Sandy) Alex G’s lyrics, “when I wake up, I am smiling.” The track also features sanguine guest vocals from Emily Yacina and is accompanied by a quirky animation from long-term collaborator Elliot Beach.
